What is Rotary
Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers who see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

Rotary members, known as Rotarians, dedicate their time and their passion to our primary motto, which is “service above self”.  That service takes on many forms.  Our projects foster six central areas of focus. Those areas of focus are:
  • Peace and conflict prevention and resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Providing clean potable water
  • Promoting maternal and child health
  • Improving education and literacy
  • Economic and community development
Rotarians gather together at club meetings to determine how to make the world a better place, and design plans to improve the lives of others.  Rotary projects may be locally focused, assuring better health, education, facilities and quality of life in the neighborhoods encompassed within that club's area.  Other projects may be of greater scale and act across the nation to help those in need, particularly after catastrophic natural events.  Additionally, Rotary projects may act globally to assist regions of the world to make positive strides in improving the living conditions associated with the six areas of focus.

Rotarians enjoy the unity of being part of something far greater than themselves, while benefitting the lives of others.  No matter where you go, the impact of Rotary International and Rotary clubs can be found.  If you are looking for a way to make friends, get to know your community better and offer your time to enriching the lives of your neighbors near and far away, Rotary is the avenue by which you can truly make a difference.
